Studying Leadership Conference 2008

Excelerator is excited to have been the host of the 7th International Conference on Studying Leadership on the 8th and 9th of December this year. We are even more enthused as it was the first time that this conference has been held outside of the UK, let alone within the far reaches of the Antipodes!
We are proud that this opportunity has been facilitated through our growing relationships within the international leadership research community and a unique body of research borne from our leadership development programmes.
The theme of the conference: The Locales of Leadership: Foregrounding Context aimed to highlight and explore the contexts of leadership, recognising the influence that ‘place', be it geographical, cultural or theoretical, has on the way in which leadership is conceptualised and practised.
The conference brought together over 100 delegates from across Australasia, Asia, UK, Europe and the US to present papers on their leading edge thinking within the leadership and leadership development research domains. We were also pleased to have the opportunity to host a number of leadership development practitioners within our network to discuss how some of these concepts can be brought into practice.
What we hope this signals is the deepening of relationships which will see the Institute and New Zealand benefit from a heightened awareness within the global research community, more collaborative opportunities and more frequent visits from people who can contribute to our leadership understanding and development.
