Woolf Fisher Trust

The Woolf Fisher Trust mission: To recognise and reward excellence in education.

The late Sir Woolf Fisher was a passionate supporter of education in New Zealand. In 1960 he founded the Woolf Fisher Trust for the advancement of scientific and general education in New Zealand through its prestigious fellowships and scholarships. When making these awards, the Trust has always sought to uphold the guiding principles and values of its founder.

Sir Woolf Fisher set out clearly his wishes with regard to the Trust:
"I feel that there has been insufficient public recognition of the importance of the teacher's role in New Zealand. With the need for recognition of the importance of the teacher's role goes the need to make the profession as attractive as possible to our own people.”

Hillary Leadership Programme places

The Woolf Fisher Trust has generously provided three scholarships for senior educational leaders throughout the country to participate in the 2007 and 2008 Hillary Leadership Programmes as a part of their broader partnership with Excelerator.

These scholarships covered the costs of the programme fees.
