Leadership for Complex Times

Leadership for Complex Times is a unique two-day workshop brought to you by The New Zealand Leadership Institute in collaboration with The University of Auckland Business School Short Courses.

What do you need to do to sustain and excel in the face of growing complexity within your organisation or community?

The nature of the complex environment we are now experiencing is characterised by increasingly rapid and unplanned change, turbulent environments and a pervasive uncertainty.

The Leadership for Complex Times workshop addresses this need for a radically different kind of leadership. A leadership style which is sensitive to dynamic changes and works effectively with others to recognise how current thinking shapes and limits what is possible. Aas a result of this programme, leaders will be better able to adapt and respond where the strategic plan cannot.

We strongly differentiate leadership from management and expertise, and believe individuals need the ability to see and move beyond their own immediate span of comfort and influence. In order to do so they must work constructively with doubt, courage and curiosity in the face of competing demands and information.

‘Certainty is insensitive to change....doubt restores that sensitivity' (Weick, 2009)

Cutting edge research from The New Zealand Leadership Institute will be at your finger tips throughout this workshop. This highly relevant research has evolved from the experiences and insights of New Zealand leaders and organisations.

This two-day workshop blends the latest research, ‘real-life' examples and practitioner experience so you can develop an in-depth understanding of the leadership thinking and action that can provide new awareness and momentum in an ever changing context.
