Excelerator is a national leadership development and research institute.

The understanding and cultivation of leadership talent is not a nice to have, it's a need to have.

The leadership we need is that which can recognise and engage with fast-paced, complex situations and, in doing so, take risks, collaborate and innovate in order to create different outcomes.

Our aim is to understand the challenges and opportunities we face in leadership, both nationally and internationally, and then to act on these insights.

In order to make an impact in this arena, Excelerator: New Zealand Leadership Institute undertakes to:

  • Enhance the understanding of leadership and leadership development through our Research
  • Invest in the leadership development of our organisations and communities through our Leadership Programmes

Chair Appointment  - Waitemata District Health Board

The New Zealand Leadership Institute is pleased to announce that its Chief Executive Dr Lester Levy has been appointed Chairman of the Waitemata District Health Board.  This is a unique opportunity for Dr Levy to draw on his extensive experience within the health sector alongside his insights gained since establishing the Leadership Institute in 2003, at the University of Auckland Business School.

Dr Levy will of course be continuing in his role as Chief Executive of the New Zealand Leadership Institute and with teaching and research in his role as Professor (Adjunct) of Leadership at the University of Auckland Business School.

"I am excited by the opportunity to be part of the team at Waitemata District Health Board" says Dr Levy.  "The health sector is experiencing rapid, fundamental and complex change and in these circumstances there is a need for adaptive, innovative, collaborative and aspirational leadership."

Dr Levy comments further "Importantly, this role is aligned with some of the Institute's key research interests being leadership and complexity as well as leadership in governance."
