Kaipara Community Leadership Programme
Community Leadership Programme 2006: "Leadership in and for the Kaipara Region"

Our founding community partnership is with the Kaipara District Council and by association the Kaipara Development Agency (Kaipara District Economic Development Trust). Excelerator: New Zealand Leadership Institute is committed to working with the Kaipara District Council as equal partners.
The key purpose of this relationship is to develop a greater capacity for leadership in the Kaipara Community. Through this relationship we created a place and space for specific case study and learning about leadership and leadership development in the community. The participants themselves through their process of learning about leadership have shaped the way in which this programme impacts the community and its people.
As part of this programme, participants helped to create:
- Leadership confidence, capacity and perspective for yourself and others in the community
- A vibrant district that young people want to stay in and return to
- An even stronger future for the district and its people
- Forums for conversation and collaborative action across the community
- A strong network of individuals of differing backgrounds with a shared passion for leadership development and the future of the Kaipara District
- Real projects led by participants with support from the community and leadership experts
The Kaipara Leadership Programme included current and aspiring leaders whose commmunity involvement spanned their local sports club, business, school, iwi, farming, council or other activities. The 16 participants selected represented a diversity of age, experience, interests and geographical residence. The critical element was to create a heart for the Kaipara Community.
The Kaipara Community Leadership Programme was fully subsidised by the New Zealand Leadership Institute through its partners and the Kaipara District Council.
