Brigid Carroll

Leadership is a fascinating phenomena experientally, pedagogically and research wise.  Just when you think you might be holding it, it slips through your fingers like sand.....or that is my experience of it.  So I've become intrigued by its slipperyness, its edges, its shape and its mystery.

I see my (and our) pursuit of leadership as being evocative of the selves, relationships, organisations, communities and societies that we don't yet have but would like to construct.

That kind of promise, for me, makes leadership a beguiling, elusive and rich area of practice and research.

Brigid is a Senior Research fellow at Excelerator, supporting the research framework and  active in data collection, data analysis and writing.  She also plays a primary role in the development and design side of the programmes with a particular focus on the Inhouse Organisational Programme at Scion/Ensis.

Brigid is currently a senior lecturer in the Department of Management and Employment Relations at the University of Auckland where she teaches organisation theory, organisation studies, management and leadership.  Her research interests lie primarily with the identity construction and discourse of leadership and management in contemporary organisations.

Brigid has a BA , MA (Hons) and PhD from the University of Auckland and a MBA (Hons) from Fordham University, New York.
